Book Reviews

You can find book reviews throughout the blog.

On this page, you can see a list of all books reviewed, split into categories, with a link to the review itself.  You can also find a review by using the category menu in the sidebar – just look for what type of book you’re interested in!

I have wide-ranging tastes in fiction though I am particularly partial to crime thrillers and police procedurals.  You are highly unlikely to find me reading horror or bodice-ripping romance, but you never know, I like to keep an open mind!  My favourite novels of all time are The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald, and The Bell Jar by Silvia Plath.  My goal for 2013 is to read/re-read some classics, so look out for those reviews throughout the year!

I love learning about new things, so with non-fiction I really do read a variety of subjects.  I do have a special interest in psychology; veganism and animal welfare; and feminism.

My only qualification to write book reviews is that I am a passionate reader.  I am not a frustrated wannabe writer, and I haven’t studied literature since I was 16 (I didn’t study it further because I dislike dissecting a book to the point that all the enjoyment you felt reading it is sucked dry!).  I am just someone who wants to share my joy of reading, and help promote books and authors that have roused my mind and soul.

I love to receive book recommendations, and hearing about the effect a book has had on a person, so if you have read something you are passionate about, please let me know. 🙂
